What is the best lake to go tent camping in arizona in the SUMMER?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Looking to go tent camping in mid June here in AZ, but don’t want to fry! Any good higher altitude lakes to check out that will have nice (sub 100 degrees) weather for a bunch of guys and a boat?

you should try upper mary lake and ashurst lake. not sure where at in arizona your going but these lakes are fairly close to flagstaff.. and thats a fun place to go. if you go to these lakes i highly recommend going to sunset crater volcano national monument. its pretty sweet cause all the sand is black. but yea have fun this summer.. don’t forget sunscreen

Fabric help. Black, lightweight not to shiny, inexpensive?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I am using this to hang on the inside of a tent for a wedding so I don’t want it to be too heavy. I would like it to be opaque, not see through like organza or tulle. I also don’t want it to be super shiny. I don’t know anything about fabric. Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction of what type of fabric would be best to use?

A lot of tent rentals also have liners for rent. A lightweight fabric used for linings of suits would work-it’s usually a polyester acetate or try going to an upholstery shop and buying sofa backing-or bottoming material-it’s inexpensive and is available in wide bolts.

Is there a good place to rent a cabin in the woods and go camping in the northeast?

I live in CT and I want to rent a cabin in the woods and go camping with some friends. I know of campgrounds where you can pitch tents but that is not exciting enough. Any ideas?

Camping in Peru?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Is it fun and safe to wonder into a nearby forest around any town or city like Lima and pitch a tent and sleep in it every night?

If safe do you recommend I get the camping equipment (tent, pad, sleeping bag) in canada before i go or can i get that stuff there?

yes, there are very good places.
It’s better if you get your camping equipment in Canada.

Where is a great tent camping spot in North Georgia on or very near a good trout stream?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I’m looking for a great place to take my young boys camping in North Georgia. I’d like to have a secluded, private tent site on or very near a trout stream or river. I’d prefer potable water be on-site, but can bring water. Would be great if there are short trails that run along the river or stream so the kids can splash around or catch a fish.

If it’s trout you are fishing for I would wait for the weather to cool down some. Trout thrive in the cooler weather. September and on are good months to fish. That being said…

Tallulah River, Tate Branch and Sandy Bottom Campgrounds are all good campgrounds. They are all on the Tallulah River banks just outside of Clayton, GA.

Cherry Hill Recreation Area is a nice little campground. It’s just over the boarder in SC, and only a 10 minute drive to the Chattooga River Bridge past Burrell’s Ford Campground. There is parking at the bridge and trails that lead down to the river.

Burrell’s Ford is indeed a beautiful camping area, and is nice and secluded. You would need to have the ability to hike in with all your equipment, but is well worth the trek. If I remember correctly it’s about 1/3 mile down to the campsites. If you veer right as you get to the bottom of the road there is a campsite right next to the river, on the right side of the trail.

going camping for 5 months in asia and wondering what is the best tent ?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

MUST have the following:

1. LIGHTWEIGHT under 2kg

2. MESH INNER TENT so we can remove outer layer and camp looking at the stars protected from mosquitos and other biting things

3. SLEEPS 2 people comfortably

ANY IDEAS?? Thank You

You didn’t specify any price range, so I will just name a few I have considered getting. I mostly look for tents that are lightweight for backpacking.

Mont Bell Crescent 2: single pole design is good for keeping the weight down, not free standing, small vestibule, 1.16kg

Terra Nova makes several 2 man ultra light tents

http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/Product_Type/Tents/Superlite_Tents

MSR: both of these meet your exact criteria
Carbon Reflex 2

Hubba Hubba

Recommend cabin/fishing locations in western/central NY?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I have fond memories of fishing trips when I was younger; we used to take long trips to go and stay in a cabin way up in canada, on a bunch of small connected lakes. I’m trying to find something similar in NY.. for fishing (walleye, small/largemouth bass, etc). Basically, somewhere that rents out cabins or tent areas, is on some nice small lakes, and rents out small motorboats. Any recommendations?

I always like to recommend the Old Forge area of the Adirondacks…my absolute favorite is a place called Nick’s Lake, highly recommended! Here’s some helpful links to places in my area:

Happy traveling!

I have a Northwest Territory "Comfort Cabin II" 14ft x 14ft Deluxe 3 Room Cabin Tent w/ Utility Room…?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

and I seem to have lost the instructions somewhere along the road. Now, I need to set it up, but I have no clue how. This tent is suppose to sleep ten people so it is VERY big and impossible to do without the instructions. I need to find a website that will give me the instructions that would have come with the tent itself.

It shouldn’t be to much of a problem for someone with a little camping knowledge. Try www.northwestterritory.com
